The Guinea Pigs of God

These terrifying creatures are a failed craft. You were warned in the 'About' section that we are not a pinteresty family and here is the proof.

The plan was to make fluffy sheep in honour of today's Gospel reading (John 10.1-10): Jesus as the gate for the sheep. My friend Anne (who wrote the wonderful Advent post on this blog) made cute Easter chicks for her Easter Garden (video here). And I stupidly thought it might work for sheep. So much not.

I encourage you to watch Anne's video though - there are good instructions there in case you want to try to do a better job of it than I did.

There is a happy ending: darling daughter was delighted with these monstrosities. Apparently they are adorable guinea pigs and they now all have names: Joey, Bananas, and Mopsy. And there's probably a lesson in there too: God is fine with us just trying stuff out, whether it's fluffy sheep or new spiritual disciplines. They don't have to be successful to be fruitful: a failed sheep may be a brilliant guinea pig and in many ways the journey is its own reward. So this week, let's enjoy being guinea pigs for God!
