To mark Creationtide / the Season of Creation and with an eye on the approach of winter, my daughter and I started work today on making the garden more wildlife friendly. This is the corner that we won't mow, and in which we plan to plant wildflower seeds in the spring:
The big project for today was building a shelter for hedgehogs. We've had some living in our broken shed in the past and so we thought we would try to encourage them to spend the winter with us again by creating a hedgehog-friendly woodpile on top of our old compost heap.
