The Examen is a form of prayer developed by St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. It is a way of reviewing the day with God that allows for thanksgiving, confession and supplication. There is some good information here. It can easily be adapted to suit different ages and stages of life and is one way of becoming more aware and intentional of walking with God.

I love it and they seem to appreciate it also. For now this is simply a recommendation. Over the course of the month I intend to also introduce an 'examen lite' at supper and on days when that doesn't work, to have an examen-shaped conversation at bedtime with the big boys.
